The UK's inflation rate, as
measured by the consumer prices index (CPI), remained unchanged in
September. Petrol and diesel prices fell, but this was offset by upward
pressure from air fares, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) said. It means prices are still rising faster than wages, which rose by
1.1% on average over the same period.

UK inflation rate falls to 2.7% in August
The cost of living fell in August with inflation easing to 2.7%
from 2.8% in July.
The fall in the inflation rate was partly because prices for fuel,
air fares and clothing rose less rapidly than last year. However, the cost of living is still rising faster than wages.
