UK inflation rate falls to 2.7% in August

The cost of living fell in August with inflation easing to 2.7% from 2.8% in July.

The fall in the inflation rate was partly because prices for fuel, air fares and clothing rose less rapidly than last year. However, the cost of living is still rising faster than wages.
