Rolls-Royce will open a new half a billion dollar plant in Singapore later
this month.The engine maker will assemble its Trent engines and manufacture the fan
blades that go into them at the facility. When fully operational, it will contribute as much as half a percent to the
Singapore's gross domestic product.
The BBC was given exclusive access to the plant before its official opening
and as Sharanjit Leyl found out, this new Asian location will be key to the
firm's future.
